Joyful Wise

Getting through the morning pages was hell this week. I did not expect that. I hit a wall of resistance and had to force myself to slog through the pages every morning. But I did it and didn’t miss a day. Got the tasks done too. For my artist’s date I tried a restorative yoga class. It was absolutely wonderful. This week’s chapter was about anger, shame, criticism, and synchronicities. I came across this disapproval matrix which is another handy resource for dealing with helpful criticism vs. people who just want to shame and hate on you. One thing I realized this week – when someone’s trying to shame you, it has everything to do with what’s going on with them, and nothing to do with you. They’re jealous or they’re creatively blocked themselves or you just happen to be the bleeding key, the messenger, reminding them of that forbidden Bluebeard door they need to open, but don’t want to. It’s so much easier to humiliate the messenger than it is to open that door.

I also had a lovely messenger this week. I discovered it’s a mourning dove that’s been perching on the ledge next to my front door. I’ve heard it cooing for a while but thought it was an owl at first. It’s a symbol of peace, love, hope – of the worst being over. Such a reassuring message to get. I hope it sticks around for a while.

I’ve been really tired this week but tomorrow there’s nothing on the schedule. Hello pajama day! Gonna sleep in, eat breakfast in bed & catch up on a couple magazines I’ve been wanting to read. Hope you get to have a relaxing day too!

photo(3)4This week has been a subdued one….less time online and plugged in to electronics, more time resting just being quiet. I need those times, don’t you? Sometimes you just need more of that negative space around your life, the still space for new ideas to come, for allowing your energy to renew itself. I’ve been gathering materials to start painting with acrylics, which I’ve never done before. I think it will be really, really fun.

Here’s what I loved this week. How about you? What struck your fancy this week? I’d love to hear about it.

Silver Linings Playbook – I finally saw it. Love at first sight.
